Kettle’s Yard is a beautiful and unique art gallery situated in central Cambridge. It was made from derelict cottages and it was set up as both a living space and museum by Jim and Helen Ede. The couple opened their house for people who wanted to see their art collections creating both a cultural and social space.

Even though nowadays nobody is living there, when you enter the house you still feel very welcomed in a relaxed environment. Kettle’s Yard completely changes the way you experience art. We are used to the formality of museums and we often feel quite intimidated and not enough cultured there. However, in Kettle’s Yard, you can seat and just enjoy the beauty around you with no pressure.

I decided to make a documentary about Kettle’s Yard because I think it’s a wonderful example of how art can be enjoyed in a simple and welcoming environment. It also shows the power of art in bringing people together. I think, we need more places like this in which we can socialize and look at beautiful things.
