This film sequence was inspired by a section from the novel called Any Human Heart by William Boyd. I find his writing particularly relatable and evocative and this paragraph really stood out for me.
Lying is part of our shared human experience and I decided to build a dark, mysterious and reflective atmosphere to illustrate our deepest internal dilemmas.

I’d rather not illustrate the paragraph in a literal way because as I wanted to give a personal interpretation of the character’s reflection. So, I let my mind wander and create powerful visuals that would resonate with these meaningful words. I limited myself to filming only in a small corner of a room which forced me to think more creatively and more resourcefully.
