This sequence was inspired by a paragraph in the novel Any Human Heart by William Boyd. I find his writing particularly relatable and evocative and this paragraph is quite a good example.
I do think lies are part of our shared human experience and I decided to build a dark, mysterious and reflective atmosphere to illustrate our deepest internal dilemmas.

I’d rather not illustrate Boyd’s paragraph in a literal way because I wanted to give a personal interpretation of the writer’s reflection. So I let my mind wonder and create powerful visuals that would resonate with those meaningful words. I limited myself filming only in a small corner of my room and allowed me to get creative and resourceful with what I had.
